Day 27 of #Recovery: #BlackLivesMatter #Awareness #Ribbon. This needs to go into effect. Not really the ribbon, but the awareness. This morning when I woke up, not sure what channel it was on, but there was a group of young black men speaking on the current issues of #injustice in our country. A country that is more so rightfully ours, we built it (for free / by demand), and still maintain it. I’m not racist by far, and I’m not putting blame on white people for the things that have been going on; the blame is completely on #America’s Justice System. It is clearly unfair, and proven to be unfair towards black people. The lack of indictments or any charges to these officers is insane! They’ve unrightfully killed people and got off scott free with it. While in turn, a teenage boy in Florida gets a definite 23 years in jail for killing a police dog. This is what they think of us… Clearly a dog’s life is worth more than the life of a black mans. Just my thought’s ladies & gentleman, just my thoughts.

Day 26 of #Recovery: #LaurynHill is the personification of #Talent. I was listening to #TheFugees #Vocab remix. It always takes me back to the first time I heard it. The content and styles that she contributed to the group is most of what made them #Legendary. She had a line on there where she said “I pay the toll fighting for my own soul / 'Cause the bourgeoisie type of mental sucks like a flat comb”… this was back when it was ok to include messages in a #HipHop song. The thing about her being a female emcee was cool… but that fact that she was better than mostly every other emcee in the industry in her era was the impressive part, and on top of that, she could sing… well. She’s also ranks #2 for most #Grammy nominations in one night. I could go on, and on, and on, but what’s the use? From what I see on #YouTube, she’s still performing here and there, dope! Lauryn is definitely one of those people on my #MustSee perform live list. I’m just taking today’s piece to acknowledge talent. Raw Talent. L. Boogie, Thank you.

Day 25 of #Recovery: #ChallengeYourself. Today has been a little bit of a challenge for me. I try to keep myself reminded that #God wont give me more than I can handle. Life is unknown, except for the present moment that you’re in… which you have TOTAL control over, don’t ever believe otherwise. This journey comes fully equipped with non-stop loops, turns, bumps, and falls. Sometimes, these obstacles make life seem hard, but you know the saying, “when life gives you lemons, make lemon Italian ice (or something like that)”… this is the challenge. Challenge your #beliefs, your #faith, your #love, your #ambition, your #skills, your knowing that God is always walking with you. So many things are made to make us feel like this life is hard, don’t believe that. Our life is a gift; embrace it, with all of its goods and bads. The unique part about challenging yourself is, it’s a win/win situation… so why not go for it? I hope you enjoy.

Day 19 of #Recovery: #Mercy, Mercy Me… Things ain’t what they used to be. This piece doesn’t have much to do with anything in particular. The lyrics were just playing in my head. #MarvinGaye has always been one of my favorite singers. He projected so much #care in his music. A true to heart artist, who wanted to provide change. There’s not much more to go into this description. I just felt like doing this piece, just because. I hope you all enjoy.

Day 18 of #Recovery: Where would I be without #TheHipHopShop? I think about this pretty often. If you know anything about me, then you know my passion for #HipHop. When I was 14 years old, I was lucky enough to get hired at this incredible store (The Hip Hop Shop). I was hired by a guy named Jerome Mongo by a referral from the late/great #BigProof. I then met a #Mogul of #FashionDesign, #MauriceMalone (owner of The Hip Hop Shop). This is what fueled my desire to do design, and just be involved in a progressive scene. Maurice used to draw these little quick sketch characters of people around the store. I was also able to learn a little about fashion design from him, as I would check out in detail his denim sketches and how he would do all measurements, size/color/material callouts, etc. I even had the chance to go by his house on #Detroit’s #Westside and get a few lessons. Proof taught me how to network, and meet/gain clientele. He introduced me to Brother Johnnie Muhammad, who assisted me in getting all of the right tools that I needed to get started with design. Johnnie delivered over $5,000 worth of graphic design software to me, Proof bought me a zip drive and a gang of zip disk… it was go time. I would design flyers for the #OpenMic Saturdays at the shop and mid 90’s #StAndrews shows. Then I went on to designing #MixtapeCovers for local Dj’s and Artist… This was in the #Cassette era. I had the honor of meeting sooo many people, most of which I’m still in contact and close friendship with. I was a 14 year old kid trapped in the amusement of early stage #DetroitHipHop, #Eminem, #SlumVillage, #RoyceThe59, #D12, and the list goes on and on and on… I met #Elzhi there, he ended up going to the same school as me, along with the late #Bugz of D12. This was one of the best eras of my life, and I truly believe that it made me who I am today. #iMissTheHipHopShop.

Day 17 of #Recovery: #selfexplanatory #NoJustice #NoPeace. I will attempt to get back to my regularly scheduled art installments tomorrow. These past few weeks have just been kind of... you know.

Day 16 of #Recovery: #JayWalk #ColorOutsideTheLines. Today’s piece sort of has a double meaning as to why I did it. I wanted to do something with shapes and that’s kind of outside of my character as an artist. I believe as an artist, there shouldn’t be any lines. So if I want to do something very in depth one day, and something extremely simple the next, it should be ok… I’m allowed to. We all are allowed to do what we want, to do what we feel. Our only restriction is our own doubt or fear. The other meaning kind of revolves around what’s going on in #America (aka #Amerikkka) today. I kind of feel less and less like abiding by the “systems” rules. I feel like #JayWalking… without the risk of being #shot, #choked, or #beat for it. I feel more and more like having my rights. My rights to be a #human, to be #equal, to be #free, to #express myself… and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. P.S. My surgery incision is healing pretty well.

Day 13 of #Recovery: Like I mentioned at the begining of this project, I'll pretty much just be doing whatever I feel that day. Today I just felt like doing a #KarateKid vs #Jordan piece. #Kicks vs Kicks, Why? I have no idea. I guess that's the mind of an #Artist, we kinda just project stuff. However, I hope you all enjoy. I think it's kinda funny and cool... at the same time.

Day 12 of #Recovery: TRY TO #CARE. We live in a very #careless world, which is the number one cause of all negative things that surround us. #Caring isn't a difficult effort, in fact, it's a natural instinct that we were all born with. To not care is to consciously resist that instinct (in most cases). In other cases, amazingly, there are really a lot of #Heartless people on this #Earth. Today, I'm just thinking of everything that goes on in this world, and a lot of it is a result of #Carelessness. I just put in my request to #God for more #Care, #Love, and #Support. We need it.

Day 11 of #Recovery: #MyFather, Winston David Butterfield was the best man ever invented. He passed on July 1st, 2014... He's now my #GuardianAngel, I feel him everyday. His spirit was with me during my surgery, just to keep and eye on everything and make sure they did everything right. He takes every step and every turn with me. For him, I will be more than ALL I can be, I will be #Magnificent! Daddy, I love you sooo much!!! I wear your necklace everyday, I keep you with me 24/7. You have always been my #Hero, I'm happy that it was you and mom who raised me, Y'all did the most perfect job. #iMissYou #iLoveYou #MyTeacher #MyHero #MyDaddy #Dad #Father
